My Story

With a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition from The University of Oxford, and an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Teaching English as a Second Language, I have extensive training in what it takes to learn and teach English and expertise in education.

Starting my first English teaching job at the age of 17, I quickly learned the diverse range of challenges that learners face. I’ve worked with babies from 18 months who are learning their first words, to government officials and adults in their 80’s. Throughout my undergraduate training, I taught English to refugees in the UK as well as academic English to Master’s and PhD students. After graduating, I gained experience in teaching adults at an international language centre, which focused on areas such as business English, career building, enhancing students’ employability skills and exam preparation. I then went on to work with some of the world’s largest online educational companies as senior consultant, researcher, mentor and ambassador. I’ve created educational materials that have served 1000’s of professionals with their career development in Asia. I’ve advised leading educational companies and helped many students of all different ages and backgrounds reach success.

My teaching and academic experience has not only given me vast knowledge in pedagogy, my high empathy and supportive nature means I can work with every client from every background. A linguist and language learner myself, I truly understand the frustrations learners and professionals face.

I have travelled extensively and worked in many different industries, societies and cultures which has enabled me to bring my intercultural awareness to my coaching and training programmes.

After graduating, I have been dedicated to researching and creating the best methods to lead clients to success. My specialties revolve around planning, developing, and delivering courses in professional settings. My initial plan was to continue with academic research into race, inequality and language in education for underserved communities. I followed my heart and my passion when I moved to Mexico. It was in Mexico where I met many incredible design and creative professionals. When I first started working with design professionals, I realised that what is holding many incredible designers back from opportunities and their full potential is their communication skills. I knew what they needed to get ahead in their communication and succeed in their career. I started Fluent Speakers to be able to share my knowledge and reach as many people within tech as possible. With my expertise in education and linguistics, I was able to develop a roadmap that allows my students to immensely improve their communication fluency and excel in English as well as their careers.

What I realised is that we have the power to bring about change. No matter what language you speak, we all have so much potential to excel.
